Support Staff

Support Staff members are responsible for the operation of the shelter during their shift. The Support Staff member(s) reports to the Shelter Director.

Hours: Part Time - up to 29 hours per week

1. Take care of client requests regarding shelter services and maintain safety and order of the shelter.

2. Answer the crisis telephone line at the shelter and provide crisis intervention, referral and shelter information as appropriate.

3. Articulate client options in a non-confrontational manner unless a matter of security is involved, and to report to management.

4. To screen and admit new residents to shelter. This procedure entails talking with new clients to determine eligibility, completing necessary admission forms, completing service sheet and other related paperwork, and assisting the residents with settling into the house.

5. Participate in shelter staff meetings, supervision, consultation, and in-service training.

6. Maintain staff chores.

7. Other duties as assigned.

Support staff must be willing to work in crisis intervention, must have a cooperative team spirit, have strong personal boundaries, a desire to help people and a supportive attitude.
